J'ai contacté Kris Holm (légende vivante du mono pour ceux qui ne le connaissent pas, et "oui j'ai osé le contacté" pour ceux qui le connaissent) et voici les résutlat après plusieurs jours:
Hy! I'm a french unicycler for 6 years now and I am currently in Whistler, so that i hope I could find a job here before i go back in France in Septembre. I wanted to go unicycling on the alpine trail on Whistler mountain, but just before I took the gondola, they said that unicycling was not allowed in Whistler, and even if I tried a long time to negociate, I couldn't go on the top with my unicycle... What do you think? Have you ever had this problem in Whistler? I can't believe that in the city of "free"riding they forbid the use of unicycle... Cheers Pierre |

Hi Pierre,
Wow - sorry to hear that. That's a suprise - It seems like you had a bad experience with someone who doesn't know anything about unicycling. I don't ride Whister often but I've done so a few times before without any problems. It's really important to me that mountain unicycling be allowed on Whistler. I'll try to find out the relevant contact person and see what I can do.
In the meantime, there are a lot more trails in Whistler than the ones on the mountain, including some that go in the alpine. Have you ridden Comfortably Numb? Or Khyber Pass? You'll have to do some climbing but both are classic trails. Make sure you get the mountain bike trail map for Whistler.
Good luck and have fun with the riding.

hy Kris,
thanks a lot for your answer! Actually, everyone who work for Whistler Blackcomb in the gondola has said it was really forbidden for several raison, especially for the waiver (which by the way you don't sigh when using the gondola for the alpine trail...) or I don"t know. But even her contacts on the phone who worked in tne top of the gondola said to her it was not allowed... so well yeah i don't understand, in France I have never had anykind of problem!
Anyway thanks for trying to keep unicycle a sport made for freeriding! ;)
Good ride! ;)

Hi Pierre,
I discussed what happened to you with the Bike Park Manager at Whistler, a person named Brian Finestone.
He has now told all the staff that unicycles are allowed in the Bike Park.
There is only one detail: Whistler's insurance requires that all cycles have a functioning brake. Even though a hand brake is not essential on a unicycle, this rule still applies.
So if you have a brake on your unicycle, you now should have no problem riding your unicycle in the bike park.
Here is a message from Brian to you:
"Hopefully you have contact with the guy we excluded so you can pass on this message and encourage him to come back again."
Have fun!
Cheers,
Kris

:D haha!!
